I am fascinated by still lifes that are multifaceted, multilayered in their semantic concept, calling for reflection. I do not really understand the traditional thematic still life, in which the theme is needed only as an “reason to get together” for a bunch of objects. It seems to me that still life as a genre is much deeper and still has huge opportunities for future development compared to this really “dead nature”, which is sadly replicated from year to year in galleries . Still life is a very lively, still emerging genre. Modern still life freely overcomes the conditional boundaries of the genre, invading the territory of the landscape, or incorporating elements of a portrait or abstract composition.
